Potting Plants for Earth Day!

A beautiful California day was the perfect backdrop for a recent event supported by USO Camp Pendleton.

Staff and volunteers from the USO Camp Pendleton Center, set to open this summer, worked with the ASYMCA’s pre-school program on Earth Day activities to honor the Month of the Military Child.

USO Camp Pendleton Center Operations and Programs Manager, Tracy Genica, said staff and volunteers helped the kids decorate little bio-degradable flower pots before they planted flowers to take home.

She said the ASYMCA event attracted more than 150 preschoolers and parents to Capistrano Park and loads of activities were on offer.

“There was music and kite making and it was just a really cool event,” she said.

“The parents and kids were interacting and people brought picnics and blankets. We were so happy to be part of it - we had a blast out there.”
