A last minute request from a Camp Pendleton infantry battalion could be the start of a long and happy relationship with USO Camp Pendleton.
Programs manager Tracy Genica said USO Camp Pendleton staff and volunteers were in the midst of a busy week but the request from 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines couldn’t be passed up.
“It was our first event up at Camp Horno and I wanted to do it because it was an infantry battalion and we hadn’t heard from them before,” she said.
USO Camp Pendleton staff and volunteers took the new mobile unit along and provided outdoor games and drinks for the Marines.
“It was really cool because they hadn’t done a morale day for about four years - they are a super busy battalion and are in the field a lot,” she said.
“They were very grateful and excited that we were there.
“They did a gun smoke chant for us which was really cool - we just had a really good time with them.”
